A Queen
Queen Esther lived 2,500 years ago and was a master of silent power.

A chemical
Fermentation-born “esters” shape rum’s complexity and character.

A Cane
The plant behind it all: sugarcane. After a 1-year planting cycle, the fields burn and grow again.

This Rum Has Two Mothers
Esther was founded by creative directors Emunah Winer and Margaret Kerr-Jarrett, longtime creative partners, founders of branding agency Nihilo, and co-founders of Casa Malka Tequila. Margaret’s husband comes from a Jamaican family with deep roots in rum culture, and together, she and Emunah saw an opportunity to tell a new story around rum.
Rum is an incredible spirit with a rich and broad history. It's unclear where the story starts, and where it stops. In fact, we could say it's a story with no beginning and no end — and so are we.
Rum is back and it's here to stay.

A discovery
Rum is the discovery of magic in a by-product, / initially discarded until it was found that it could be fermented and distilled. / This is a story with no beginning and no end. / And where we find ourselves in it / is continuously unraveling. / Early distillation was crude, / harsh spirits, / and the early parts of ourselves, / that we try to distill, are also often crude.
Rum has always been a drink of rebellion, warmth, and gathering. But somewhere along the way, it got lost in sugary clichés and pirates. We're here to change that.

Made in over 80 countries, / rum cannot be confined / to one place or one flavor or one method. / Sugar can be made into millions of different things, / varied in their sweetness, / varied in the way they balance / the harsh and the delicate. / Aging in wooden barrels, often repurposed from the shipping trade, / enhanced flavors and mellowed the spirit. / Mellowed the spirit.
As production spread, different regions / developed their own styles, Jamaican rum became known for its heavy pot still distillates, / while Spanish-style rum evolved into a lighter spirit. / A lighter spirit.

Esther is elevating the humble sugarcane to its rightful place. This is not a sweet or syrupy spirit. This is not an overpowering spirit. This is an approachable spirit. This is an additive-free spirit. This is a spirit with depth. This is a spirit you can sip neat or on ice, and that shines in cocktails of all kinds.
